Canal du Midi

UNESCO listed, the Canal du Midi is one of the most iconic sites of the SOuth of France.  Lined with thousands of plane trees, this arterial waterway winds it's way from Toulouse to Narbonne.  Passing through many locks, including a triple lock of Castelnaudary - you can stop off for a famous cassoulet stew while you are there.  Dotted Alton the Canal are lock-keepers cottages, gites and cafés, so places to sleep and get refreshment.  Whether taking a little stroll, cycling it's length or hiring a barge to cruise down yourself, the Canal du Midi is a place whose images will stay with you for a lifetime.
